A perfect pirate performance by Primary 3!

On Thursday 5th October, Primary 3 presented the first assembly of the year based on the theme of pirates. Roars of “Ahoy shipmates” and “batten down the hatches” could be heard ringing throughout the school as Primary 3 showcased some of the work they had covered in class relating to their World Around Us theme, “Over and Under the Sea”.

They talked about famous pirates and shared their facts about Captain Blackbeard. They dramatized the poem “Mrs Pirate” and the whole school was invited to join in their rendition of the song, “It’s a Pirate’s life for me.”

When the P.3s discovered that loot had been taken from the treasure chest in their classroom, they shared Wanted posters of the pesky pirates they wanted to find along with paintings of the suspects. Pirate Enda (the ship’s comedian) kept every one amused with his pirate jokes and even Mr O’ Neill was invited to join Mrs Kelly and her jolly crew for a photograph at the end of the assembly. Well done to all pirates and parrots involved in Thursdays assembly – it was a real treat to watch.
