Mary Queen of Peace Primary School, Glenravel

PTA

St. Brigid's PTA is a very important part of our school community. This year we have endeavoured to ensure that each year group in the school is represented by a parent. We are very proud that these representatives are not restricted to just mums but that fathers have also come on board (there is also a grandparent on our committee this year).

The PTA is not just about raising funds as it is an opportunity to meet other parents and become actively involved in promoting St. Brigid's within the local community.

As a group we meet approximately once a term. We welcome new members at any time of the school year. Come along with someone you know or talk to an existing member or Mrs McNally. There is usually a cup of tea but biscuits not always guaranteed!

Fund raising events are an important part of the school calendar and are successful, not only in terms of monies raised but also because they involved pupils, staff, parents, extended family and friends.

  • 1st term: Three events raised enough money to buy a very impressive sound system, with large screen and projector for the school assembly hall.
  • 2nd term: We are focusing on helping others. Children are learning about global poverty and injustices and are donating money to TrĂ³caire during Lent.
  • 3rd term: PTA buys cakes for First Holy Communion and Confirmation and those people who are available usually help with light refreshments on these days.

Dates and times of PTA meetings will be posted on website and in school newsletter.

Any new members wishing to assist in supporting the school through the PTA are more than welcome and can contact the school for further information.
